Found by Ali Martin in the Glenboig area. This appears to be baby fire brick or a salesman’s sample. I am not in possession of this example. Glenboig Union Fireclay Company, Glenboig, Lanarkshire. Found at an unknown location in Scotland and kindly donated by Nick Basden. Sanquhar Brick and Tile Works, Sanquhar, Dumfriesshire. This is a miniature baby brick. It is also a ‘stop end’ brick. . . . . Below – A similar sized brick without the ‘stop end’. This was found by Joan Faithfull.

Found in the Kilmarnock, Ayrshire area. This is a baby fire brick. The following information is supplied by Vladimir Smirnov – This is a Soviet brick ШД means schamotten i.e. firebrick. It was manufactured since 50th (1950) at many brickyards, but letter Б beneath points to Borovichi brickworks in Novgorod Region 300km from St.Petersburg. Letters…

Found by Andrew Gemmell in the Milngavie, Glasgow area. This is in theory an unidentified manufacturer but I do believe it is Scottish. These were found at the Broomhill brickworks, Bonnybridge Bay bricks were made on site and I have no reason to believe that these were made elsewhere. They are however not marked. See this link site history . . .
