Found by Ian Suddaby on the site of the Manuel Brickworks, Whitecross.

Unidentified manufacturer but possibly made be John Sten at Manuel.

Ian states – Found at Manuel Brickworks I think these are Muffle bricks, made to allow heat to pass through a thin fireclay barrier. They’ve never been found at Manuel before and may not have been made there as most of their stuff is quite distinctive in terms of brand names and codes etc. Muffle bricks are rare finds anywhere in fact.

They’re standard brick sizes but have the tongue and groove fitting round the sides. There are two different wall thicknesses here and one has a B in the base.
