Found near Inverkeithing, Fifeshire by Ian Suddaby.
Two Wemyss stamped bricks and made in Methil, Fifeshire between 1906 and 1981.
These bricks have been painted white to one end. One has been stencilled in red with the no.’9′ and the other with ’23’. Another was found stencilled ’21’
These bricks ended up in a pit, which might well have been one of the ground anchor points for a WWII Barrage Balloon.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what they may have been used for? Possibly a marker of some sort and perhaps connected to the Armed Services. I assume there were other bricks numbered from 1 to?
