Clay field, Shian, North Argyll
(Note: SBH – This clay field may never have been exploited.)
23/04/1946 – The Scotsman – Industrial development of Argyll – Important industrial developments are expected to result from surveys which have just been completed of limestone deposits at the northern end of the Island of Lismore and of the terra-cotta clay deposits at Shian, in North Argyll. A group of businessmen interested in the development of the natural resources of the West Highlands, it was stated yesterday, are considering the possibility of utilising the lime for agricultural purposes, and the clay which covers an area of 200 acres—for the manufacture of bricks. If the proposals materialise, new industries will be set up in the district.
