11/09/1775 – Caledonian Mercury – To be sold by public roup within the Tolbooth of Dunfermline, on Tuesday the 17th day of October next at two o’clock afternoon. The lands of Coaltown, with the tyle and brickworks thereon, belonging to William Swan, lying in the parish, and within a mile of the town of Dunfermline, in the shire of Fife. The lands are to be let as offers incline, altogether, or in two lots, as divided by the public road, running from south to north, commonly called the Muirland Road and the tyle and brickworks are to be included in the easter lot.
