This was found at the ETNA works while it was being pulled down.
It is believed to be a gas valve or regulator for a burner for one of the kilns at the works.
In total, the valve is 4 1/2 ” high. The bottom diameter of the dense rubber bung is 1 7/8″
.

All the bricks present were fire bricks and included English manufacturers such as Ruffors of Stourbridge, Cowen of Newcastle and Duddell of Fenton. 90% of the bricks present appear to have been stamped ‘Glenboig’….
