Glenboig 24 A

Found by Ian Suddaby around the Inner Bay at Inverkeithing in Fife

Ian states – A Glenboig 24A square slab. I’m not sure what these were used for and leaving aside the slight differences in the way the letters are stamped, the 24 part is interesting.
Lots of 24 stamped slabs have been found around the Inner Bay at Inverkeithing in Fife and from various different manufacturing companies.  After a bit of quick research, it looks like the 24 is a reference to the Pyrometric Cone Equivalent (PCE) rating which is the melting point of the fireclay mixture. 24 seems to be over 1590°C. Quite hot.
