Knowehead Tileworks near Irvine aka Muirhead Tileworks. (Note – SBH – I believe Knowehead and Muirhead were one of the same).
1855 – 1857 – ScotlandsPlaces – Knowehead Tileworks. These works are on the property of Robert Reid and were erected some 20 years ago to supply the neighbouring farmers with drain & roofing tiles.

1858 – Mineral Statistics of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland for 1858 – A kiln exists at Knowhead, Stewarton and tiles &c are manufactured there.
09/09/1865 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Tilework to let. For such a period as may be agreed on. Muirhead Tilework, Parish of Irvine. For particulars apply to Mr Robert Reid, Segganbank, Irvine or to Mr William Reid, Muirhead the latter of whom will show the work. Offers will be received up to 7th October. Segganbank, Irvine. 5th September 1865.
05/12/1868 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Muirhead Tileworks. The undersigned begs to give notice to parties purchasing tiles at Muirhead Tileworks that no person has his authority to receive payment for tiles got there and all accounts must be paid at the undernoted address. 13/02/1869 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Ploughing matches at Dreghorn. Junior section – Prize for the best break, John McLymont, Muirhead Tilework.
26/05/1866 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Notice to farmers – McLymont and Alexander beg to intimate that, having taken a lease of Knowehead Tilework, they are prepared to receive orders for tiles, which will be executed with promptitude and despatch. Apply at the Works, or to John McLymont, Merchant, Stewarton. Stewarton, May 23, 1866.
29/07/1871 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Muirhead Tileworks, Irvine. Pipe tiles of all sizes from 2 to 6 inches, also open tiles and soles all sizes at moderate prices. Orders sent to Thos. Alexander at the works will receive prompt attention.
03/03/1877 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Marriages – At Torranyard Toll, Kilwinning, on the 20th ult., by the Rev. W. Lee Ker, Thomas Alexander, of Muirhead Tileworks, to Agnes Brown, daughter of Wm. Brown, contractor, Torranyard, Kilwinning.
