Mill of Forres Brick and Tile Works, Moray, Nairn, Highland
25/05/1847 – Stonehaven Journal – New brick and tile work – We observe that a new brick and tile work is in process of erection on the farm of Mill of Forres, the owner of which is Mr Crowe, who has an extensive establishment of the same kind at Broadley, near Montrose. We understand that the operations this year are to be confined to erecting kilns and drying sheds, and otherwise completing the works, so as to be ready to supply the public at the beginning of the next season. This establishment from its centrical situation must be of great service to the farmers of the surrounding country, and the public generally since at present brick and tiles cannot be procured nearer than Aberdeen, on one hand, and Bervie on the other. The raw material on the spot is of excellent quality, being well suited to the manufacture of the articles; and the works are within a short distance of the proposed railway depot.
