31/07/1889 – Falkirk Herald – Brickwork for sale. The whole plant at Armadale Brickwork and the business so long successfully conducted there, is offered for sale as going concern, owing to the death of the late proprietor, Kopel Moritz. There is still about four years of the lease to run and the landlord would be willing to treat with a suitable tenant for extension of the lease. The current contracts will be continued to a suitable purchaser. All information can be obtained from Mrs Moritz, Melbourne House, Bathgate, or the subscriber, and the works will be shown by Mr Cartmill. The stock of bricks can also be had at a valuation. 11/08/1889 – Kopel Moritz died in Bathgate aged 55 years. His son Arthur Edwin Moritz who died in Tharsis, Spain on 18/06/1907 aged 30 years is also buried alongside him.

So who was the Moritz in partnership with Fleming? – If it was Kopels son Arthur then from the info above he would have only been aged 16 – 17 years old in 1893 – 1894.
