Steven s London-Road Patent

Found by Eddie McLean in Glasgow.

Not sure if the additional ‘S’ is meant to be Steven’s or a separate entity with unknown meaning

William Steven, brickmaker, builder, and contractor; Office, 481 London Road; House, 483 do.; Brickworks, Porter Street and Society Street, G. Eastern Road; Mauldslie, London Road; Crosshill, Cathcart Road, south side.

Below – This is the reverse of the brick above and it shows the ghost image of the same stamp. It is possible this brick has been repressed.

Below – The same stamp on another brick with scalloped corners. There is a definite full stop after Steven. The frog is deeper than the one above but this has also been stamped to the rear and possibly repressed too. Found by Eddie McLean in the Glasgow area.
