Scotland's Brick and Tile Manufacturing Industry

Found in the Glasgow area by Eddie McLean. Stevenson Bros, brickmakers, Millcroft and Polmadie Brickfields, Rutherglen Rd.; also Garscadden Brick and Tile Works, Drumchapel. . . . .

Blairdardie Brickworks is situated on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal about 1 1/2 miles West of Canniesburn Toll. (Note – SBH – So is this on the same site as the works later called the Garscadden Brick and Tile Works or the Blairdardie Brickworks that were erected just East of Garscadden Brickworks…

Blairdardie Brick and Tile Works, Yoker, Glasgow. These appear to have been erected after c. 1916 when the Garscadden Brick and Tile Works closed. Cowdenhill Brickworks, Cowdenhill, Glasgow … That extensive brickfield known as the Cowdenhill Brickfield is situated on the North Bank of the Forth and Clyde Canal about 4 miles West of Glasgow …  (See below). Below – 1859 – A map showing the relationship between Cowdenhill on the right and the Blairdardie/Garscadden Brickworks on the left….
