Torpedo Scotland

Found by Russell Hogg in the River Dee near Balleter, Aberdeenshire.

Unknown manufacturer but highly likely to have been manufactured in Scotland!

‘Torpedo’ was a type of steel making ladle and it is very possible these bricks were manufactured for use in such ladles.

Below – (Note – SBH – My own thoughts are that the Torpedo Scotland fire brick may have been made by the Gartcraig Fire Clay Works, By Millerston, Glasgow, who exported globally and on a large scale. The stamp of this brick is very similar in appearance to the Torpedo stamp).
